Green fluorescent stain is suitable for use in both agarose and polyacrylamide gels is twice as sensitive as ethidium bromide and up to 400 times as sensitive as colorimetric stains
Molecular Probes is now offering Sybr Safe DNA gel stain in several new packagings.
For convenience, users can now choose between ready-to-use solutions in either TBE or TAE buffer, or a 10,000X concentrate.
Sybr Safe DNA gel stain can be used in exactly the same manner as ethidium bromide but with the advantages of increased sensitivity and reduced mutagenicity. This green fluorescent stain is suitable for use in both agarose and polyacrylamide gels and can be cast directly in the gel or as a post-run stain.
Sybr Safe is said to be twice as sensitive as ethidium bromide and up to 400 times as sensitive as colorimetric stains.
It has tested negative in three mammalian cell-based assays for genotoxicity and is less mutagenic than ethidium bromide in the Ames test, says Molecular Probes.
Sybr Safe is compatible for use with a standard UV transilluminator, visible-light transilluminator, or laser-based scanner.
