Millbrook has recently initiated improvements in the distribution of its desktop surface analysis instruments for the fast-growing global nanoscience sector
Millbrook Scientific Instruments reports another sale of a MiniSims desktop mass spectrometer to a company in the electronics industry.
The un-named customer is located in the bay area of California, the electronics heartland of the USA.
The order worth $179,000 is for an instrument fitted with several optional accessories.
Commenting on the sale, Nick Long, sales director for the MiniSims, said: "Companies in the electronics industry are currently showing great interest in the MiniSims, particularly to investigate and minimise surface contamination in order to improve the reliability of their products in the field".
Millbrook has recently initiated improvements in the distribution of its desktop surface analysis instruments for the fast-growing global nanoscience sector.
This includes a strategic revision of the arrangements in the USA.
Two new agents have been appointed for the Millbrook MiniSims.
The first is RBD Enterprises, which is based near Portland (Oregon), and has many years' experience in marketing, sales and service of surface analysis instrumentation.
The second is Icmas in Alcoa (Tennessee), a company that specialises in accelerating the adoption of new and innovative scientific instruments. Similar initiatives are in progress at Aquila for the NKD product line.
Vacuum Solutions has been appointed to cover the important east coast area, and BEA Carlson Technical Sales will cover the north midwest.
Negotiations are still in progress to select and finalise contracts with other agents in the remaining geographical territories.
Millbrook and Aquila will be building on this enhanced network of agents with a joint exhibition presence at the Society of Vacuum Coaters SVC TechCon conference in Dallas 24-29 April 2004.
An NKD spectrophotometer will be shown on the booth, and Ben Cliff, senior application scientist, will be presenting a paper titled 'Introducing the Millbrook MiniSims - surface analysis for everyone".
Peter Stefanini, executive chairman, summarised the changes by saying: "We anticipate that adding these new agents to our international distribution network will increase awareness and accelerate sales in the USA.
"We've had great success in selling instruments in Asia and are aiming to repeat this in North America."
