National Instruments announces IMAQ Vision 6.0 for Measurement Studio, extending its machine vision software and image processing tools to the most popular programming languages
Using IMAQ Vision 6.0, engineers can easily create integrated visual inspection applications for faster and more reliable measurements with Measurement Studio, a complete software package that delivers measurement tools including data acquisition, data analysis, and data visualisation to complement Microsoft Visual Basic, Visual C++, and ANSI C programming languages.
"With IMAQ Vision 6.0 for Measurement Studio, text-based programmers can easily integrate machine vision, image acquisition, and motion control devices, giving them the ability to create complete manufacturing test and measurement systems," said Jason Mulliner, NI IMAQ product manager.
"Engineers can create applications to align electronic components, gauge metal castings, measure contents, inspect various parts, and more." With the new features of version 6.0, engineers can solve applications that require colour inspection and high-accuracy gauging.
Colour pattern matching is a key component of IMAQ Vision 6.0.
In the past, pattern-matching applications typically used only grey-scale cameras, but now IMAQ Vision 6.0 opens automated visual inspection to colour applications.
Colour pattern matching quickly locates known reference patterns in a colour image.
For example, engineers may use this feature to visually inspect collared fuses because IMAQ Vision 6.0 can discern even slight differences in colour, unlike traditional monochrome applications.
IMAQ Vision 6.0 also simplifies common machine vision tasks, such as finding multiple edges along different search areas.
Functions for counting and measuring objects, measuring intensities, measuring distances between edges, and locating edges all make machine vision tasks easier than ever.
In addition, the new version adjusts to the orientation of a product as it comes off a production line to ensure an upright image.
With the new spatial calibration feature, engineers can calibrate images for accurate, real-world measurements, regardless of camera perspective or lens distortion.
IMAQ Vision Builder 6.0, a rapid application development tool, complements IMAQ Vision 6.0 by helping engineers quickly and easily develop vision-processing scripts. Together, IMAQ Vision Builder and IMAQ Vision accelerate development.
NI now offers both IMAQ Vision Builder 6.0 and IMAQ Vision 6.0 in the Vision Development Module for Measurement Studio, continuing its tradition of offering key technologies for creating complete automated measurement applications with vision capabilities.
