The decision to outsource the mixing process is often influenced by the prohibitive cost of transporting ready-made solutions in bulk.
Certified to ISO 9002, the dedicated mix room is a zoned flame-proof area for solvent handling and is regulated in accordance with ATEX 99/92/EC Health and Safety standards.
Flexible lighting control caters for the handling of photo-sensitive solutions and using variable speed mixing and jacketed tanks, mixes can be heated to set temperatures and then rapidly cooled to aid polymer dissolution. A range of filtration techniques is available for the different solutions once produced.
Of the 14 mixing vessels, eight have a 3 tonne capacity and six have a 1 tonne capacity, with the facility to use cowles blades for high shear radial mixing, or pitched blades and marine propellers for low shear axial mixing.
In combination with high-volume mixing, small volumes (of less than 1 tonne) with raw materials weighing around 20 -400 kg can be mixed offline using portable vessels.
These can also be used for pre-mixing of the components for the larger mix.

The tank farm locates hazardous chemicals away from the plant and comprises six bulk vessels of 25,000kg capacity to hold large quantities of solvents, which are delivered through automated control to the mix room.
