Enables organisations to streamline, automate, and optimise mission-critical business processes while enabling seamless collaboration between people, processes, and content
Scientific Software has announced what it describes as a next-generation solution for business process management (BPM). Business Process Manager can accelerate processes across all industry applications, including SOP management, regulatory compliance (Sarbanes-Oxley, Basel II, HIPAA, 21 CFR Part 11, Osha), Six Sigma process improvements, new product introductions, scientific data archiving, engineering change notices, purchase requests, insurance claims processing, and forms processing. "Automating and improving internal processes for new product development, preventive maintenance of laboratory and production equipment, and regulatory forms applications is critical to the success of our business," said James Valuckas, director of QA at Robertet Flavors.
"Business Process Manager and its support for capturing data via Adobe PDF forms is a strategic component in helping us meet these objectives to get new products to customers faster, reduce operational costs, and meet regulatory compliance".
Business Process Manager is tightly integrated with the Scientific Software Enterprise Content Manager system out-of-the-box, but is designed as a stand-alone BPM solution and can easily be embedded into third party or custom applications.
BPM is based on industry standards such as the Microsoft.net framework, XML and web services.
Tight integration with Scientific Software Enterprise Content Manager for complete lifecycle management of the process definition, content and structured data.
Scalable, enterprise workflow engine capable of supporting complex flows (parallel, serial, conditional, looping and nested) and both short (seconds, minutes) and long-lived (hours, days, years) processes. Services-oriented architecture (SOA) with remote web services interfaces for registering new workflow templates, starting and stopping workflows and retrieving process status information. Integration with Adobe Designer 6.0 for data capture and electronic forms (eForms) processing.
XML-based process definition for portability between BPM instances and applications.
Rich variety of pre-built automatic (server-based), manual (human) and content-based workflow activities.
Developers kit for building custom workflow activities, extending BPM functionality, and for embedding Business Process Manager into third party applications.
Intuitive end-user interfaces, including email notification, Inbox processing via Enterprise Content Manager, and workflow status screens.
Business rules and exception handling for determining process flow and transition logic between activities.
Complete audit trail and reporting of workflows and activities.
Enterprise scalability with support for failover, and recovery of workflow and workflow activities. "Business Process Manager is an enterprise-class BPM solution that allows our customers to improve key operational processes involving people, documents and structured data," said Soheil Saadat, president and CEO of Scientific Software. "By focusing on ease-of-use and using industry standard productivity tools (such as Microsoft Visio and Adobe PDF) that every knowledge worker understands, and utilising industry standards such as XML, web services and the Microsoft.net framework, we've differentiated ourselves by providing a BPM solution that truly requires zero coding to deploy". Business Process Manager should be available in Q3 2004.
