Ultra lightweight portable research grade portable Fourier transform IR spectrophotometers can be used anywhere for on site molecular analysis
Based on a unique optical design originally used in satellite space probe applications, Spectrolab has designed and is now manufacturing a range of ultra lightweight portable FTIR and FTNIR spectrophotometers that are so small they can be carried in a brief case or with a simple shoulder strap to be used anywhere for on site molecular analysis or simply used as an on the spot analytical spectroscopic probe.
In addition they can also be used in remote locations for pollution monitoring, food analysis, for medical diagnostics and much more.
The instruments are particularly rugged and unusually compact allowing analysis to be made on most types of sample within the wavelength range 360cm-1 to 7800cm-1, covering all popular wavelengths.
Other versions are also available covering the entire wavelength range from the visible to the far IR.
Every component has been designed for very high sensitivity and extremely low power consumption, allowing for the first time, true research grade infrared and near infrared spectroscopy from a light weight briefcase size instrument.
And the dimensions? Just 30 x 22 x 12cm.
A range of remote fibre probes are available covering all wavelengths out to 600cm-1.
Many applications demand an instrument that can analyse samples without sample preparation and to meet this requirement a version is available with an integrated ATR accessory.
In use all a user has to do is place a drop or smear of the sample onto a small window and the analysis is completed automatically.
The price of this unique instrument is also remarkable and is typically less than one third the price of other commercial instruments.
Applications include process, environmental, physics, pharmaceuticals, petrochem, food, beverages, oil, QA, in fact any application requiring molecular analysis in or away from the lab.
Modular instruments are also available for use in OEM applications.
Special versions have been designed for medical diagnostics for applications such as cancer screening, diabetes plus a wide range of other physiological disorders.
Prices start at £7000, €11,200, $10,000.
