Scalable system operates at a consistent cost per genotype or per sample, allowing users to zero-in on targets with low-throughput studies or conduct high-throughput analyses
Beckman Coulter introduces the 48-plex GenomeLab SNPstream genotyping system, a scalable solution to meet medium- to high-throughput needs.
This automated, multiplexed system can process up to 48 SNPs in each well of an arrayed 384-well plate.
SNPstream operates at a consistent cost per genotype or per sample, regardless of run throughput, allowing users to cost-effectively zero in on targets with low-throughput studies as well as conduct high-throughput analyses.
The new 48-plex SNPstream system joins the original 12-plex system, introduced in 2003, which can be upgraded to 48-plex capability.
GenomeLab SNPstream genotyping systems feature a simple protocol with just three steps, compared to over 15 steps that are required for competitive systems, says Beckman Coulter.
Based on single-based primer extension technology, the 48-plex SNPstream system operates at a claimed 99% accuracy.
The system's high sensitivity delivers accurate results using as little as 2ng of genomic DNA.
The plates are compatible with Biomek series liquid handlers, for fast pre-and post-PCR set-up.
Multiplexing within the system's 384-well plate enables the user to run a range of genomic samples on the same plate.
The system can be run manually or integrated with plate-handling robotics, for walk-away automation of up to 72 plates.
The data collection, analysis and QC from raw data to genotype are fully automated and a complete summary report is provided.
"Our flexible offering gives users the ability to cost-effectively run at a range of throughput levels," explains Zhiming Jiang, strategic product marketing manager for Beckman Coulter.
"By lowering PCR expenses and improving efficiency, we've been able to lower the cost per genotype and per sample".
The GenomeLab SNPstream systems are validated on multiple sources and species, including genomic DNA from blood, tissue, cell culture or buccal swab, and from human, mouse, cow, microbial and plant species.
SNPstream users have access to Beckman Coulter's Autoprimer, a unique web-based tool that automatically provides primers and tag assignments in a matter of seconds, using proprietary algorithms.
GenomeLab is a family of genetic analysis tools from Beckman Coulter that innovate, simplify and automate genomics processes to enable identification of new markers of biological, diagnostic and therapeutic interest.
