Exhibiting for the first time under the new group name of Horiba ABX in Glasgow, two new product launches demonstrate the company's continuing innovation
Visitors to the EuroMedLab 2005 congress will be able to see clearly the giant advances Horiba ABX has made since entering the haematology market back in 1983, says the company.
Breakthrough products such as the Pentra range have resulted in an average 20% growth per annum, to the point where Horiba ABX now claims number two position in Europe for haematology.
This success is now being replicated in the clinical chemistry market, where the new ABX Pentra 400 benchtop range is winning widespread acclaim.
Horiba ABX has installed over 25,000 haematology and clinical chemistry instruments in laboratories worldwide.
Exhibiting for the first time under the new group name of Horiba ABX in Glasgow, two new product launches demonstrate the company's continuing innovation.
On the haematology side the new ABX Pentra DF 120 features the exclusive ABX Double Diff Matrix and provides a powerful routine tool for the detailed diagnosis of haematology pathologies.
Double Diff Matrix technology significantly reduces manual differentials, enabling scientists for the first time to automatically distinguish three different cell lines involved in leucopoiesis - granulocytic, monocytic and lymphocytic.
With addition of an integrated slide-maker called SPS Evolution, throughput on the ABX Pentra DF 120 reaches 120 slides per hour, the company says.
Full patient information management is offered through the Expert Validation Station and accompanying software.
Workflow is also addressed through ABX Pentra ML, an exclusive multilink concept that allows up to three ABX haematology analysers to be connected together.
All results are centralised on the same screen to be validated automatically or manually.
Using ABX Pentra ML gives labs the flexibility to use different Pentra analysers and at the same time achieve substantial increases in workflow productivity.
Speed is also multiplied - for example two ABX Pentra 120s, whatever the model, can run 240 samples per hour.
Benchtop clinical chemistry analysers continue to grow in popularity giving additional capacity and flexibility not only in main labs, but also as back-up instruments.
At EuroMedlab, Horiba ABX will be displaying the latest version of the ABX Pentra 400 with its user-friendly interface and comprehensive list of reagents; the system allows up to 55 reagents on board.
