Five years after launch, a programme to help entrant level personnel to enter the industry while helping ease the difficulties of recruitment is proving a hit
Independent clinical research organisation Chiltern International is celebrating the fifth anniversary of its home-grown Trainee Clinical Research Associate initiative with a steady uptake of new trainees.
In recent years the company has also been able to offer its clients the opportunity to benefit from its growing expertise within clinical research, recruitment and training through the utilisation of the scheme, and this year it reports record numbers of personnel taking up the scheme from client companies.
The programme is said to have a double benefit, providing quality staff keen to get into the industry at competitive rates for clients.
"The scheme allows highly motivated and dedicated entrant level personnel the opportunity to enter the industry while affording our clients a cost effective solution to the challenge of recruitment within clinical research," explained Chiltern's Linda Christmas.
"We do not charge clients for the first three months, then only at cost during the next three months of contract hire.
"The client also gets access to our dedicated training and development department, and we provide all the hardware for the trainee.
"The employees in return benefit from a permanent position with Chiltern including our flexible benefits package.
"This year is the fifth we have been running the scheme and without doubt it is going very well.
"We have enquiries from clients all over the world and a major programme already underway.
"It seems a popular choice for the biopharm industry."
