Integration will provide biologists and chemists with a flexible and scalable analysis solution that will appeal to both Resolver and GeneSpring users
Agilent Technologies and Rosetta Biosoftware report that their flagship gene expression analysis products, the Rosetta Resolver system and Agilent's GeneSpring software, are being integrated through the use of the Rosetta Resolver software development kit (SDK).
The integration will provide biologists and chemists with a flexible and scalable analysis solution that will appeal to both Resolver and GeneSpring users.
The Rosetta Resolver system is described as a versatile, scalable and robust gene expression data management and analysis system designed to meet the scientific and business requirements of company-wide gene expression research efforts.
GeneSpring software is a powerful visualisation and analysis solution for displaying and analysing large gene expression datasets on a typical desktop computer.
"Rosetta Biosoftware has consistently communicated its fervent dedication to providing the best available solutions to its customers," said Yelena Shevelenko, vice president and general manager of Rosetta Biosoftware.
"Our collaboration with Agilent to offer integration between the Resolver system and GeneSpring software demonstrates our commitment and recognises our customers' need to explore gene expression data within a single data access and analysis environment that combines the best features of the two most powerful gene expression data analysis solutions".
"Our customers are increasingly focused on breaking the silos that exist between scientific disciplines to integrate their findings from gene expression analysis, genotyping, proteomics and location analysis," said Francois Mandeville, manager of Agilent's informatics solutions.
"This integrated solution from Rosetta Biosoftware and Agilent is an important step in enabling systems biology though open informatics solutions".
The Rosetta Resolver system is developed and supported by Rosetta Biosoftware.
The Resolver system and GeneSpring software are distributed exclusively by Agilent.
The Rosetta Resolver system is a high-capacity data storage, retrieval and analysis solution for gene expression data.
The system is said to be ideal for life science research organisations that need to assess compound specificity or toxicity, identify new genes or therapeutic targets or compare and analyse large databases of expression profiles.
The Rosetta Resolver system combines flexibility and ease of use with high-performance algorithms to produce an enterprise solution for rapid analysis of gene expression data.
The Rosetta Resolver system can accept and analyse data from a wide variety of expression profiling formats, including Agilent DNA microarrays, and applies Rosetta Biosoftware's proprietary error models to yield quality statistics for every gene expression measurement within the system.
These statistics are automatically leveraged by Rosetta Resolver system analysis tools for optimal results.
Life science research organisations that have licensed the Rosetta Resolver system include many of the top pharmaceutical companies in the world, such as Aventis Pharmaceuticals, Bristol-Myers Squibb, GlaxoSmithKline and Merck, as well as premier academic institutions such as the California Institute of Technology and the Harvard University Center for Genomics Research.
GeneSpring is widely regarded as the gold standard for expression data analysis, says Agilent.
Research conducted with GeneSpring has been cited in nearly 800 peer-reviewed articles in leading scientific publications around the world.
Designed to meet the needs of the individual researcher, GeneSpring seamlessly interfaces with Agilent's Signet software, which provides a highly scalable platform for enterprise-level genomic research.
