Data acquisition unit has four independent analogue to digital converters and twin microprocessors to allow logging of data at rates up to 100 readings per second on separate channels at the same time
Grant announces the launch of a new 16 channel Squirrel data acquisition unit - the SQ2040-4F16.
This new Squirrel has four independent analogue to digital converters, which combined with twin microprocessors lets users reliably measure and log data at rates up to 100 readings per second on separate channels at the same time - said to be a first for this class of product.
This faster sampling makes it ideal for use in a wide range of industrial, scientific and environmental applications where different changing parameters such as temperature and pressure need to be measured concurrently, says Grant.
Add this to the universal input channels that will measure most signal types including temperature, current, voltage, resistance and pulses and the result is a flexible solution to most measurement problems, says the company.
As well as the 16 differential analogue channels there are two additional high voltage inputs that measure 60VDC, 16Mb of on board memory allowing direct storage of up to 2,000,000 readings, digital channels for measuring high speed frequency pulses and four relay outputs for on/off control.
The new Squirrel is portable, lightweight and easy to use.
It can be used as a standalone data logger or as a data acquisition system.
It can be connected via USB or RS232 serial ports for faster download of data.
For extra mobility the Squirrel has an easy-access memory slot which accepts standard MMC (multi-media card).
This allows any operator on site to download data or re-program the logger's parameters, by simply swapping memory cards.
For convenience and speed of use the new Squirrel has been designed to have up to six pre-configured programmable set-ups that can be easily selected from the logger's front panel.
Set-ups can also be changed in the field from the front panel by an operator without a PC.
The SQ2040-4F16 supports ethernet, landline and GSM wireless communications providing global access from any site to a centrally located system for convenient and prompt supply of data.
The new Squirrel also comes with SquirreView, an easy to use set-up and analysis software package.
