These packages provide a level of post-purchase support appropriate to customers' needs while being considerably more cost-effective when compared with traditional support plans
Thermo Electron announces the development of two new support packages: an expanded LTQ FT essential support plan for its Finnigan LTQ FT hybrid linear ion trap mass spectrometer; and a new Academic LTQ essential support plan for the Finnigan LTQT linear ion trap mass spectrometer.
The former is targeted at current Finnigan LTQ FT customers in metabolic studies, proteomics analysis, pharmaceutical research and drug discovery while the latter has been designed specifically for Finnigan LTQ academic customers.
The enhanced LTQ FT essential support plan includes an unlimited number of demand on-site service visits within 72 hours as well as planned preventive maintenance visits.
In addition, it offers a flexible support option that allows users to choose the coverage most relevant for their operation.
The new Academic LTQ essential support plan benefits users by offering three demand on-site service visits within five days of the request as well as optional HPLC coverage.
Both plans provide priority technical support within two hours, software updates and notifications and subscription to online e-support.
Engineer labour and travel and factory-certified replacement parts are also included.
Thermo says the Finnigan LTQ FT combines the most advanced ion trap and Fourier transform ICR technologies making high resolution, accurate mass determinations and MSn available for high throughput analysis on a single instrument.
The instrument consists of three major components, a new generation ion trap mass spectrometer, a high transmission ion guidance system and an ICR analyser based on a 7T superconductive magnet.
The ionisation of samples is performed by using either an electrospray, nanospray or Maldi ion source.
The ions are then gathered in the ion trap, sorted and targeted in small characteristic units.
Finally the masses of these compounds are determined in the FTICR-MS.
Combining patented technology from the LCQ series with advanced designs in linear trap, ion source, optics, and detector technology, the Finnigan LTQ delivers exceptional LC/MSn ion trap performance, says the company.
The segmented linear trap with radial ejection and dual detection system enables the highest overall detection efficiency resulting in unparalleled sensitivity.
These capabilities combined with rapid scanning available through state of the art electronics result in information-rich data collection at breakthrough speed.
Superior sensitivity and fast scanning produces better peak shape resulting in better quantitation over a wider linear dynamic range.
