PulseTeq designs, manufactures and markets radio frequency coils, electronics and other enhancements to original magnetic resonance (MRI) scanners
Renishaw has entered into a 50% business partnership with PulseTeq , a supplier of magnetic resonance imaging equipment.
PulseTeq, currently based in Guildford, UK, employs six full-time staff, and designs, manufactures and markets radio frequency coils, electronics and other enhancements to original magnetic resonance scanners.
With this investment, PulseTeq will seek to capitalise on a number of market opportunities that have recently presented themselves, as well as consolidating its current business in the UK and overseas.
The investment also illustrates Renishaw's intention to investigate and exploit further opportunities in the medical field.
Drawing on its expertise in metrology, Renishaw has recently introduced Incise, a dental scanning machine for bridge and single tooth restorations.
The company's inVia Raman microscopes and spectroscopy systems are already in use worldwide for the analysis of unknown substances in the forensic and biomedical sectors.
Renishaw stands at the forefront of automated metrology with products which enable measurements to be taken that are traceable to international standards.
Wherever precision measurement is required, using Renishaw's products ensures that exacting specifications are met, with cost-effective methods.
Renishaw has subsidiary companies in its major markets of Australia, Austria, Brazil, the Czech Republic, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Poland, Russia, Slovenia, South Korea, Spain, Switzerland and the USA, together with representative offices located in the People's Republic of China, Hungary, Singapore and Taiwan.
These, together with a network of distributors, provide global support for the group's products.
Traditionally, Renishaw has exported some 90% of its products annually, with sales for the financial year ending 30 June 2005 totalling £154.1million.
At that time, the group had over 1800 employees around the globe (over 1300 in the UK).
