Point Technologies announces three new lines of microarray spotting pins used around the world for genomic and proteomic research including gene expression and drug discovery
Accelerator PT and PTL microarray spotting pins.
This is a line of split pins of standard size, ie 0.061" dia x 1.061" length (PT) and 0.061" dia x 1.750" length that fit most existing printheads.
These are available in tungsten for increased durability and long life.
The end-user price for these split pins is US$225.
Accelerator PTS and PTLS microarray spotting pins in solid format are also available.
Accelerator PTS and PTLS pins are priced at $99 each.
PFT microarray spotting pins.
This is a line of split pins made of tungsten or 440C SS.
They have flat tips and square sides and fit most existing printheads.
PFT pins are priced at $199.00 each.
PMJ microarray spotting pins.
These are also split pins, but they are designed to fit the arrayers designed by Stanford's Brown Lab.
They are made of 440C SS and are priced at $199.00 each.
The company also makes colony picker pins and microfluidic tubing for this important biotech market.
"The first few months of shipments of these products have been phenomenal.
"They are shipping from our new Costa Rica facility to labs around the world, with the exception of the USA.
Customers in Europe, Australia and Asia have received the new products and indicate that they are quite pleased with the results" said John O'Brien, executive vice president of Point Technologies.
The pricing on the new pins represents a breakthrough in the microarray spotting arena, says the company.
Point Tech says it is opening the market, allowing more microarray labs around the world to buy more pins and stay within their sometimes restricted budgets.
