Cleanroom furniture can go through transformations as designers create aesthetic, functional and ergonomic equipment that will make the lives of all operatives easier, safer and more secure
PBSC has recently launched updated versions of its complete range of cleanroom furniture for changing rooms, aimed specifically at high containment facilities within the chemical, biotech and pharmaceutical industries.
Whereas stainless steel or phenolic resin have traditionally been the manufacturers' choice of material when it comes to the provision of clean-cut sterile units, PBSC has updated the design of its step-over benches, cleanroom shoe racks, and changing room lockers - in white PVC.
The advantage of PVC is that it offers a lower cost alternative, while also being a far easier material to work with.
However, it is important to note that although manufacturing costs may have been reduced, the use of PVC does not reduce the performance properties of PBSC's clean room furniture or the longevity.
In fact, the use of PVC does not compromise on safety or aesthetics at all.
Performance and functionality remain the same.
The new PVC designs include rounded, more ergonomic, edges and are just as robust as similar equipment fabricated in other materials.
Although PVC has excellent chemical resistance properties, in some higher usage areas, stainless steel or phenolic resin tops can be attached to the PVC structure, thus adding another dimension to the fitting out of a cleanroom changing area in a containment facility.
The base of each unit is fitted within the facility before the floor is laid thus ensuring a perfect seal once the vinyl floor is laid and 'coved' up to the base.
Rather than having a free-standing unit on legs that will collect and hide contamination, the sealed PBSC step over barriers, hinged storage benches, clean room shoe-racks and changing-room lockers completely eliminate one more area of possible contamination.
In effect, the base of the unit has become an integral part of the actual fabric of the facility.
Once the base has been sealed into position, the top of that specific unit can then easily be clipped into place.
If the unit is to be added into an existing containment facility or cleanroom, the base is bolted flush onto the floor with a sealant thus ensuring a perfect contamination-free seal.
As PVC is a lower cost material there are beneficial cost implications.
Potential customers can rest assured that no compromise has been made on functionality, aesthetics or performance, and yet the innovative use of PVC now means that most budget constraints can be addressed.
All items in the PBSC range of cleanroom or change room furniture is manufactured to suit the client's specific requirements.
The units have no visible fixings and are easy to clean.
PBSC supplies cleanroom furniture, clean room doors, cleanroom glass doors, stainless steel doors, fire-rated doors, vision panels, transfer hatches, pass-through chamber, emergency escape panels and lifting trolleys.
The company has done extensive work within the chemical, biotech and pharmaceutical industries and all installations will perform under the most stringent circumstances.
