The Adept HPLC System 4S from Cecil Instruments is suitable for analysing a vast variety of cannabis associated analytes.
Despite being a drug of abuse in many countries, many societies are currently experiencing an increasingly rapid acceptance of cannabis (marijuana) products for medicinal and recreational usage. Additionally, low cannabis content and high hemp fibre products are grown in numerous countries.
As well as cannabinoid analysis of clinical samples, there is a need to determine the provenance, identification, purity and quantification of crops and formulated products. Measurements of active ingredients, such as Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol,
cannabidiol and cannabinol are normally needed. Ancillary analyses may also be required, to determine the levels of residual pesticides, mycotoxins, terpenes, and contaminants such as heavy metals etc.
With such a broad range of requirements, a flexible modular HPLC system which can incorporate modules such as additional pumps, autosamplers, column heater/chillers, detectors and post column reactors is required to cover the wide range of future cannabis associated analyses. With many cannabis associated methods currently being developed and passed on, reproducible method transfer is crucial.
The Adept HPLC system 4S includes a WaveQuest ultra-fast scanning UV/Visible HPLC detector, 21 CFR part 11 compliance PowerStream software, two isocratic pumps and a mixer with an optional column heater/chiller, and autosampler. The system provides for reliable, accurate, sensitive, ultra-low drift, modular, versatile, robust and easy to use, high pressure gradient mixing. It also offers high sensitivity for the determination of trace constituents or contaminants.
