Vapourtec’s advanced LED module, designed for use with its continuous stirred tank reactor (CSTR), significantly expands the possibilities in flow photochemistry. With an input power of 70W and radiant output up to 40W, the module operates across wavelengths from 365nm to 700nm and is dimmable from 10% to full intensity.
This innovative setup supports reagentless photochemical reactions, even in the presence of solids. The use of CSTRs enables efficient handling of solid reagents, catalysts, or reactions that produce solid products or by-products. The system is ideal for cascading multiple reactors to control residence time and facilitate continuous processing.
Up to eight CSTRs can be integrated into Vapourtec’s R-Series platform using dual R4 heaters, allowing scale-up of complex photochemical reactions involving solid-liquid phases.
Dr. Manuel Nuño emphasises the system’s ability to explore new chemical pathways, particularly by enabling solid-based reactions and managing gas-phase by-products.
