Vapourtec has unveiled the latest addition to its product range – the eBPR-GL, a self-contained, electronically adjustable back pressure regulator specifically engineered for processes involving gases and gas–liquid mixtures.
Designed with advanced composite materials, the eBPR-GL provides high-precision back pressure control between 0.1 and 10 bar (gauge), accommodating flow rates from 0.01 ml/min to 20 ml/min and operating at fluid temperatures up to 100°C.
Regulating gas and gas–liquid systems presents unique challenges. Conventional back pressure regulators (BPRs) often experience significantly higher gas leakage compared to liquids, causing pressure fluctuations—particularly at lower flow rates. In addition, the larger internal volume of many BPRs can lead to gas accumulation, disrupting gas–liquid partitioning.
Addressing these issues, Vapourtec’s eBPR-GL sets a new benchmark for reliability in gas–liquid regulation. Managing Director Duncan Guthrie explained:
“We have overcome long-standing challenges in handling gases and gas–liquid systems. The eBPR-GL is a significant step forward for applications requiring accurate pressure control and stable gas partitioning.”
The wetted flow path of the eBPR-GL features only PTFE and PFA fluoropolymer contact surfaces with perfluoroelastomer seals, ensuring durability and chemical compatibility.
Available with or without an integrated user interface, the eBPR-GL also supports remote back pressure control via RS-232 serial commands, offering flexibility for automated systems.
