The Med64 system by Alpha Med Sciences is a complete, easy-to-use, advanced multielectrode array system for in vitro multi-site extracellular electrophysiology
The Med64 system by Alpha Med Sciences enables network physiology, patterned stimulation, drug screening and electrophysiology of acute slices, slice explant and dissociated cultures.
As its name suggests, it can measure up to 64 sites in the sample simultaneously and stimulate up to four.
Switching of stimulation sites is simple either via the included patchbay and amplifier or one of two optional software packages.
The system can be set up and running in under two hours and the included software allows it to be used by non-electrophysiologists, eg molecular biologists, needing electrophysiological data to back up observational experiments.
The Performer software includes wizards to guide users through common applications such as LTP.
Med64 can be used with other instruments such as microscopes and single electrode manipulators but needs no special environmental conditions and the main probe and connector can be placed in a humidified incubator.
The use of planar electrodes also means that samples can be recorded for days, weeks and months without damage.
The 64 channels can also be split onto four connectors / probes with 16 recording points and one stimulation electrode on each for simultaneous measurement of four separate samples.
