The brand name of 'Extract Technology' will once again be seen at this year's Interphex Exhibition, where following a corporate takeover the company's latest range of equipment will be on display
Among the equipment on show will be a 2.5m LS PharmAir Booth for containment during dispensing and sampling operations; a flexible dispensing isolator for containment of potent compounds; and a custom-made pack-off system for off-loading dry powdered product into drums and IBCs.
The operating principle of the PharmAir Booth follows the classic Extract Technology downflow booth design of re-circulating the airflow, which is used in thousands of applications around the world.
However, taking account of increasing energy costs, the PharmAir has been designed to reduce volumetric airflow and increase fan energy efficiency.
The number of filtration modules and specifications has been adapted to market changes, and these measures significantly increase cost-effectiveness.
Extract Technology has been designing and manufacturing isolators for the containment of potent compound applications for many years.
More recently, Flexible Isolators have been finding a niche market for those applications where a more cost effective containment solution is acceptable.
High levels of operator safety can be provided in shorter lead times and at lower costs than airflow Booths or Rigid Isolators.
The newly-designed 'inward' inflating sealing head in Extract's Pack-Off System is designed to offer a basic form of primary dust containment when off-loading and packing off dry powdered product in the pharmaceutical or chemical industry.
The 'inward' inflating head ensures a dust tight seal as the liner is compressed against the feed tube so that there is no product contact with the seal.
The Extract Technology sales and engineering team will be on hand to answer questions, provide technical information and demonstrate the design advantages of the equipment presented at the show, as well as offering advice on the entire range of Extract Technology equipment, systems and services.
Over 25 years, Extract Technology has supplied many of the world's major pharmaceutical and biotech companies and a host of local contract manufacturers with 'engineered containment solutions'.
Projects have been designed in conjunction with many A+E companies and building contractors, leading to the installation of Extract systems in over 50 countries worldwide.
In October 2006, the US-based private investment firm Insight Equity acquired the Walker Group (parent group of CPS Extract) resulting in the Huddersfield-based manufacturer of pharmaceutical containment equipment reverting to its former name of Extract Technology.
