Grant Instruments, a world leader in controlled temperature technology for clinical and life science applications, introduced the Asymptote EF600 series controlled rate freezers at Pittcon 2007
Electrically powered by a Stirling Cycle Cryocooler which requires no liquid nitrogen or any liquid coolant, these freezers can be used in laboratories that operate under sterile conditions or require a high level of air quality.
The risk of contamination to samples is eliminated.
Cooling rate to below -100C is precisely controlled allowing for good recovery upon thawing.
Temperature remains below -100C at end of cycle until freezer is turned off.
Operation of these compact freezers is simple and quiet and extremely cost effective when compared to liquid nitrogen systems.
An uninterruptible power supply (UPS) ensures complete cycle run in the event of power failure.
The Grant Asymptote EF600 series controlled rate freezers are designed for use in critical cyropreservation applications including human and animal invitro fertilisation applications for embryos, oocytes, stem cells, and spermatozoa.
A variety of sample holders as well as application specific preset linear and non-linear cooling programs are available.
For other laboratory freezing applications sample holders can be modified and cooling programs can be optimised for any particular cell type.
