Applied Biosystems has launched new VeriFlex Blocks based on a novel temperature control technology that increases the accuracy and efficiency of PCR-based processes
The proprietary technology is being introduced with the new Veriti 96-well thermal cycler, which allows researchers to rapidly find optimal reaction temperatures and accurately perform simultaneous mixed-temperature reactions.
Thermal cycling simplifies the PCR process by using thermal alloy blocks that are heated and cooled repeatedly, but the slightest variation in heating or cooling temperatures can result in failed PCR experiments.
VeriFlex Blocks have six separately controlled alloy blocks (or zones) that enable users to set specific temperatures that will not encroach into neighbouring zones, unlike current gradient technologies that create hard-to-regulate temperature gradients across a single block.
A single Veriti Thermal Cycler can rapidly find the optimal annealing temperatures and run multiple reactions at different temperatures simultaneously, allowing a whole battery of tests to be performed across a broad range of different temperatures in a single run.
The Veriti Thermal Cycler features an easy-to-use touchscreen interface that simplifies the process of controlling temperature zones and operating the instrument system.
Users can choose to run pre-programmed or custom methods using fast or standard chemistries.
