Designed to meet the needs of the small to mid-sized laboratories, the DVS Intrinsic vapour sorption moisture analyser combines ease of use with a low capital investment and maintenance burden
Surface Measurement Systems introduces the latest dynamic gravimetric water sorption analyser - the DVS Intrinsic The DVS Intrinsic rapidly measures uptake and loss of moisture in the sample by a controlled flowing carrier gas at a specified relative humidity (RH) over a sample suspended from the weighing mechanism of our highly sensitive and stable digital microbalance (SMS UltraBalance).
This detects the sorption of water vapour by the increase or decrease in sample mass.
Applications include the impact of hygroscopicity, water sorption kinetics and water induced morphology changes (eg, amorphous content) in pharmaceutical powders, tablets, APIs, excipient materials.
Other applications include diffusion in packaging materials like blister packs and control release encapsulation.
The analyser is capable of accommodating a sample mass up to 4g and with dimensions as large as 40mm.
The sorption behaviour of very small samples sizes (typically 1-20mg) can be accurately determined.
Changes in sample mass of 0.1ug and unrivalled long-term stability are hallmarks of the DVS Intrinsic.
The Intrinsic has a temperature range from 20-40C with control to +/-0.1C ensuring excellent instrument baseline stability as well as accurate control of the relative humidity generation.
These features are critical for the accurate measurement of water sorption phenomena.
Add industry leading electronics, software interface with step-by-step wizards and Isotherm analysis software, the DVS Intrinsic represents high performance with minimal operator training.
The unit's small footprint makes optimal use of limited bench space.
High-throughput is achievable via DVS-IntrinsiLink which expands the operation of up to five analysers from one PC.
