NanoKTN has announced the Application of Modelling seminar, to be held on 25 February at the Wilton Centre, Redcar, Teesside, in partnership with the Chemistry Innovation KTN.
The event will focus on the application of modelling to process and product design, which has traditionally been seen as the preserve of very large companies.
However, sharing of expertise and computational resources presents an opportunity to encourage the development of world-class expertise in UK modelling, which may be exploited by organisations representing a range of sizes.
Formation of such an accessible competence base will promote the advancement of UK industrial competitiveness.
The event will bring together industrial companies and academics in the field.
As well as providing real-life examples of the current beneficial applications of modelling to industry, potential future opportunities will be suggested.
Key outcomes of the event will be the development of pre-competitive programmes, applying modelling to industrial products and processes, and the identification of gaps and opportunities in UK modelling skills, and ways in which these may be exploited or overcome.
Presentations and discussions at the event will focus on various opportunities for the application of modelling to chemical and nanotechnological products and processes as well as looking at industrial requirements for process modelling and ways of developing methods for simulating block copolymers.
Keynote speakers include Dr Tom Malik from Akzo Nobel, Professor Kevin Roberts from the University of Leeds and Mark Matzopoulis from Process Systems Enterprise.
Membership of the NanoKTN and this event is free of charge.
