Newport Corporation has announced the latest addition to the optical power meter and detector range, the 1928-C single-channel benchtop optical meter.
The power meter is designed for customers who need a single-channel energy/power measurement tool.
The model interfaces with all of Newport's photodiode detectors, thermopiles, and pyroelectric detectors.
It has the capability of measuring from 11pW up to 20kW of optical power and from 7uJ to 20kJ of pulse energy.
The 100kHz sampling rate ensures that the pulse measurements are accurate and any real fluctuations in the CW power are not ignored.
The 1928-C incorporates various filtering to make the reading more stable.
Features include a highly visible colour display, graphing, strip chart display, statistics, data storage via internal memory or USB flash drive, and an analogue output interface.
This meter does not have an internal fan to cool the instrument, an advantage in applications where the vibration of a fan motor could interfere with stability in an experimental setup.
The circuitry of the 1928-C optical meter allows much lower energy consumption compared to the 1936-C model.
The meter features a stand-by mode for when the meter is not actively used and it can be reactivated with the press of any button on the front panel.
It can display irradiance in 'sun' units, enabling photovoltaic researchers to use the power meter as a complementary tool to a reference solar cell.
