GE Sensing and Inspection Technologies and SGS-CSTC have unveiled a joint Non-Destructive-Testing (NDT) Application Centre in Shanghai, China.
This is said to mark a milestone of the co-operation between the two multi-national companies and a new exchange platform with Chinese industrial customers on advanced NDT technologies and optimal NDT solutions and services.
The centre is located in the Kongqiao Industrial Zone in the Pudong New Area of Shanghai.
It is equipped with comprehensive NDT instruments and equipment - such as ultrasonic flaw detectors, eddy currents, spot-welding detectors, X-ray real-time inspection systems, digital inspection systems, computed radiography , a microfocus X-ray system and an industrial CT system - from GE Sensing and Inspection Technologies, a manufacturer of NDT products.
SGS-CSTC, a Chinese joint venture of the SGS group, an inspection, verification, testing and certification company, provided the NDT training centre and service capabilities.
The two partners will also jointly facilitate the upgrading of Chinese NDT standards.
NDT plays an important role in the quality control of welding and industrial parts, together with the safety assurance of pressure vessels and pipelines.
It is used in a range of industries, including metallurgy, oil and gas, power generation, aerospace and transportation.
