Grant Instruments has introduced a variable-speed, variable-angle, 360 vertical rotator that combines three mixing functions - vertical rotation, reciprocation, and vibration - into one compact unit.
The PTR-35 is designed for vertical mixing applications, including hybridisation reactions, cell growing, homogenisation of biological solutions, prevention of blood coagulation and latex diagnostics.
It is supplied with a standard platform, which has capacity for up to 26 15mm-diameter tubes or 26 1.5-2ml microtubes.
The unit can also accommodate longer tubes due to its high platform position.
An additional four optional platforms provide the flexibility to mix and match different tube sizes (15mm and 30mm diameter) and tube capacities (1.5ml to 50ml).
All of the PTR-35's mixing functions are fully programmable - including a pause option - and can be set for continuous or timed operation (one minute to 24 hours) to achieve optimum mixing either in a single mode or in any different combination of the three functions.
The unit offers vertical rotation speeds of 10-100rev/min, a 15-90 reciprocal turning angle, and can be programmed in 1-5-second vibration bursts.
The Grant-bio PTR-35 unit measures 195 x 155 x 365mm (h/d/w), features a two-line 16-character LCD display and a reliable and quiet motor.
The PTR-35 is robust and reliable, according to Grant, and comes with a two-year warranty.
For customers that need a higher-capacity multi-function rotator, the Grant-bio PTR-60 is available, which can accommodate up to 48 15mm-diameter microtubes.
