The T24-AR active repeater has been added to the T24 range of fast, licence-exempt, wireless, 2.4GHz radio telemetry instrumentation.
The T24-AR is a two-way active repeater unit that, in effect, 'passes on' communications between other modules in the range and thus can help to route the signals around obstructions such as machinery, buildings or walls and can extend the range of the units.
The range of the T24 system without the repeater and using internal antennas is up to 100m.
The TA-AR is housed in an IP65, NEMA4-sealed ABS case containing a battery compartment for two D-size alkaline cells; alternatively, the unit may be powered from an external 5-18VDC supply.
Typically, the T24-AR will act as the transparent relay station between a data acquisition module such as the T24-SA, the T24-IA or the T24-VA for acquiring and transmitting strain gauge, current or voltage signals and transmitting them to a computer basestation (T24-BSu or -BSi), a handheld display (T24-HS or -HA), or an output module such as the T24-AO1 (voltage output), the T24-SO (serial output), the T24-RM1 (replay output) or the T24-PR1 (printer output).
The system modules are individually programmed via the computer basestation and may then operate autonomously.
The T24 range is designed for low power consumption, enhanced by the ability to program some modules with a sleep mode in order to conserve power when readings are not required.
The rate of reading depends upon the user-programmable resolution, from up to 100Hz at a resolution of one part in 50,000, with a data rate of less than 1Hz, one part in 400,000.
Applications for the range include laboratory experiments, manufacturing plants, vehicles, defence and aerospace, sports engineering, weighing systems and prototypes.
