The Genova Plus spectrophotometer from Jenway is the ideal spectrophotometer for the Life Sciences.
It has all of the top features of the company’s 73 series of spectrophotometers, including the icon driven software and an intuitive, easy-to-use navigation system, adapted especially for life science use.
This means it is pre-programmed for the measurement of nucleic acid concentrations and purity, and for protein assays and analysis, including Lowry, Bradford, Biuret, BCA and direct UV methods.
An optical density mode is available for cell harvesting, enabling cell growth to be monitored by measuring absorbance at either 600nm, 595nm or any other user selected wavelength.
And by performing a purity scan across the full wavelength (198 to 1000nm) impurities can be readily identified from distorted peaks.
The Genova Plus is fully compatible with all of the accessories Jenway make for its 73 series.
This includes an automated eight position cuvette holder, sipper pump, Peltier and a combined sipper Peltier pump.
Other ’passive’ accessories include test tube holders, adjustable path length (10 to 100mm) cuvette holders, single water heated cuvette holders and micro-cuvette holders.
The Genova Plus can also be used as a standard spectrophotometer, as it comes with measurement modes for spectrum scanning, photometrics, concentration, multi-wavelength, quantitation and kinetics.
The Genova Nano model is a combination of the Genova Plus and Jenway’s innovative micro-volume measurement accessory.
This allows it to measure sample volumes as small as 0.5?l, which conserves precious samples, while reducing the need for dilutions and eliminating the requirement for cuvettes.
The Genova Nano is not just a micro-volume spectrophotometer though because it can also be used for temperature sensitive reactions.
This is thanks to its compatibility with the 73 series accessories, including the standard volume electronic Peltier.
