Conditioning amplifier will permit a strain gauge device to be connected to a computer or PLC system without the need for an expensive analogue-to-digital card
The D-Cell digital strain puck, available from Celsum Technologies, is a cost-effective, highly accurate, compact and robust conditioning amplifier which will permit a strain gauge device such as a load cell, pressure transducer or torque sensor to be connected to a computer or PLC system without the need for an expensive analogue-to-digital card.
All that is needed is a 12VDC power supply, and a strain gauge device with an impedance of 320 ohms to 1200 ohms.
In a cylindrical package designed to fit a typical strain gauge pocket, the D-Cell is available with RS485 serial communications with a choice of protocols from Ascii, Modbus, Mantrabus and Canopen.
The device has an integral temperature sensor, and may be programmed for multi-stage linearity and temperature compensation.
The resolution may be selected from 19 bits (1 part in 500,000) at a speed of one reading per second to 15 bits (1 part in 30,000) at 100Hz, with low noise and high stability.
RS485 versions may be individually addressed on the same bus.
Designed primarily for the OEM market, the D-Cell also provides a ready solution for many research and development applications.
An evaluation kit is available, with a choice of D-Cell.
The devices carry a three-year manufacturer's warranty, and can normally be delivered from stock.
