Allows strain gauge devices to be connected to computer systems directly, obviating the need for expensive A to D cards
State of the art surface mount technology has enabled the DCell programmable intelligent strain puck to be re-engineered with many new features inside a compact cylindrical package designed to mount inside the strain gauge packet of a load cell or similar strain gauge device making it an ideal choice for OEM laboratory instrument manufacturers and for research and development work in the laboratory and field.
The DCell allows strain gauge devices to be connected to computer systems directly, obviating the need for expensive A to D cards; all that is needed in addition to the strain gauge and computer is a DC power supply.
Said Celsum Technology's managing director, Roy Carter: "The new generation DCell is now available in both a high stability version and a lower cost industrial stability version.
"Both versions allow higher speed operation at RS485 baud rates of up to 230,000 and data rates of up to 500 reading per second, both now allow shunt calibration of the strain gauge and real mV/V calibration, and both are ESD protected to +/-15kV.
"The DCell has Fieldbus compatibility with a choice of protocols including Ascii, Modbus and Mantrabus II, with Can and Canopen available soon.
"For OEM production and for one-off R and D projects, these robust devices can be installed and commissioned quickly, and represent excellent value for money".
The DCell now has a diagnostics LED, peak and trough recording, extreme noise immunity of five times the heavy industrial level, a programmable dynamic filter, an easy mounting hole and will accept a wider range of operating voltages.
