With the introduction of Promet, Michell Instruments has developed a specific solution to the issue of moisture measurement in natural gas
Measuring the moisture content in natural gases is a vital process yet remains one of the most demanding, as natural gas sources are generally dirty, corrosive, heavily moisture laden and at high pressure.
Now, with the introduction of Promet, Michell Instruments, the leading UK manufacturer of hygrometry devices, has developed a specific solution to the issue of moisture measurement in natural gas applications.
A heavy duty moisture analyser, Promet is designed to ensure that natural gases comply with contractual specifications, thereby guaranteeing that the gas is safe to transport and has the correct properties for subsequent use.
Promet can also be used to confirm and control natural gas dehydration processing prior to export.
Promet utilises Michell Instruments' advanced Cermet II IS hygrometer, which combines the Transmet IS transmitter and the latest Cermet II indicator.
Consequently, Promet is a highly reliable and rugged on-line device and is suitable for use over a wide dewpoint range from -100oC to + 20C, with the display in a choice of hygrometric units, including ppm(v), Ib/mmscf and gm-3 .
Active pressure compensation can be achieved with the addition of an optional pressure transducer.
The latest version of Michell's Ceramic Moisture Sensor has been considerably enhanced, with a series of extended tests confirming that the latest generation gives a typical accuracy of +/-1C dewpoint over the measurement range of -60C to +20C dewpoint.
In addition to a significantly improved response speed, long term stability of better than +/-1C dewpoint per year has also been achieved.
The modular nature of Promet allows each instrument to be tailored to the requirements of individual customers and applications. Consequently, the analyser can be used in a range of industrial processes, ranging from the prevention of hydrate formation and corrosion in pipeline operations, to monitoring trace moisture contents in gas to ensure compliance with quality specifications. CENELEC certified for EEx ia II C T4, Promet has an analysis pressure up to 300 bar and is protected against contamination from substances including Glycol, H2S, Mercapatans and other sulphides.
