Philips Ultrasound's Xres technology has recently won the Design Solution of the Year at the Electronics Industry Design Awards 2002 (Eida).
The Eida acknowledged the innovation, design and technical ability of the engineers at Royal Philips Electronics in creating the revolutionary new image-processing technology for diagnostic ultrasound applications.
Xres processing performs 350 million calculations per frame in real time to analyse and adapt image content in a manner similar to the human brain.
The result is the highest-quality diagnostic ultrasound grayscale information currently available.
Jacques Souquet, chief scientific and technology officer at Philips Medical Systems, received the award and said: "It is an honour to be recognised in this way by such a prestigious organisation.
