Described as a world first in the 635nm wavelength band, this diode means simpler optics and extended battery life in instruments
Photonic Products can offer Hitachi's latest Maru beam series of red laser diodes, claiming the world's first circular beam with a 1.2 (typ) aspect ratio for laser diodes in the 635nm wavelength band.
As the first products in this series, the HL6335G uses a 9mm package with 5mW optical output, and the HL6340MG uses a 5.6mm package with a 5mW optical output.
The shift from the previous elliptical beam to this circular beam will make it possible to simplify the beam forming optics required in products such as laser levellers, scanners, and fibre checkers, resulting in significant cost savings.
At 25mA, the operating current is approximately 40% lower than that of Hitachi's previous low operating current type products, enabling the HL6335G to be used in the same environments as current Hitachi models while offering an extended battery life.
