Red laser diodes offer the world's first circular beam with a 1.2 (typ) aspect ratio for laser diodes in the 635nm wavelength band
Photonic Products has just introduced a range of 635nm laser diode modules, which incorporate Hitachi circular beam Maru laser diodes.
With circular output beams of 2.2mm diameter, output power from 0.9mW to 4.4mW and cylindrical or flange mount packages, the range is designed for applications such as automotive, construction and industrial alignment where precision and high reliability are of major importance.
The new range of 635nm circular beam laser diode modules requires an input voltage (Vop) from 2.7V to 6V at a typical operating current (Iop) of 31mA.
Circularity ratio is typically 1.2:1, beam divergence 0.6mrad, operating temperature from -10C to +50C and a standard flying lead length of 300mm.
Hitachi's Maru beam series of red laser diodes offers the world's first circular beam with a 1.2 (typ) aspect ratio for laser diodes in the 635nm wavelength band.
The shift from the previous elliptical beam to this circular beam makes it possible to simplify the beam forming optics required in products such as laser levellers, scanners, and fibre checkers, resulting in significant cost savings.
Data sheets for this and other fibre optic components are available from the Photonic Products website (link above).
