Remanufactured systems benefit from new data acquisition technology, set up, and calibration, providing top quality cameras at a reasonable cost
Due to a new marketing initiative and joint venture between Paxsys and Southern Scientific, gamma cameras from the German manufacturer Mie are now available in the UK.
The first system has been installed in the nuclear medicine department of a London hospital.
The systems are returned from field operation and passed through a vigorous remanufacturing process that has been established for 25 years and has full ISO9000 acceptance and CE marks.
Strict quality controls include the replacement of all moving parts, detectors and consoles to assure superior high resolution images with maximum dependability and uptime.
All systems have full Nema and IEC quality control accreditation. Each system is fully integrated with the digital computer system, Scintron, that controls data acquisition with the help of specially designed controller units to implement static, spect, and whole body acquisition.
There are in excess of 400 units installed in Europe and in many cases the performance of the original system is exceeded by new data acquisition technology, set up and calibration.
Ken Frost, managing director of Southern Scientific, is confident these systems will be of great interest in the UK commenting: "Mie cameras are installed extensively in Germany and the USA.
and are particularly popular in the private and veterinary sectors where providing a value-for-money service is vital.
With limited capital budgets and incentives to reduce waiting lists in the UK public sector, we are expecting these systems to become very popular here."
