Syncroscopy has launched its new Z-Focus Table range.
These tables provide a way round a common microscope design problem, thus allowing users to automate stereo microscopes or macro imaging systems and ultimately improve image quality such as depth of focus.
The problem has been associated with the motorisation of the z-axis which relies on the presence of an easily turnable fine focus knob.
Unfortunately, this is often absent in these classes of imaging device.
However, Syncroscopy's Z-Focus Table overcomes this problem by providing an additional sample stage plus focus mechanism, which can be motorised in the z-axis without needing a fine focus knob. It consists of a vertical stand and horizontal adjustable arm that fits under any stereo microscope or macrostand.
On the end of the arm is a motor controlled stage connected to a Z-stepper unit.
The Z-stepper motor can be computer operated to allow a digital imaging system to capture a series of partially focused images for further processing.
The most popular application of the Z-Focus Table is with Syncroscopy's Auto-Montage.
From captured partially focused images Auto-Montage creates extended focus and three-dimensional views.
Since the Z-Focus Table permits users to calibrate the z-axis, it will be essential for those who want to make accurate three-dimensional measurements using an Auto-Montage image of their sample.
