Trogone Instruments has announced the introduction of the Parstat 2253 the latest addition to the Princeton Applied Research family of multi-purpose potentiostats/galvanostats.
The Parstat 2253 is the entry level Parstat system and is based on the same architecture as the very popular Parstat 2263, providing hardware capable of +/-10V scan ranges, with 20V compliance and 200mA current.
The Parstat 2253 provides excellent price and performance for those seeking the flexibility and reliability of a Parstat system, yet it can be upgraded to a Parstat 2263 system should future research require electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS).
The Parstat 2253 is DC powered so that it can be operated with an AC/DC converter (included with the system), or with a DC power supply (ie, 12 V auto battery) for remote/field applications.
A factory installed option is available that can provide isolation, or a 'floating ground', enabling the Parstat 2253 to work with ground working electrodes.
Its small footprint and lightweight make it ideal for portable, field applications, where ease of transport, and rugged construction are critical.
The interface to the PC or laptop is Universal Serial Bus.
The front panel of the Parstat 2253 is simple and clean.
At the rear of the Parstat 2253, there is the DAC output for control of rotating disk electrodes or other devices where a DC voltage is required.
There is also a synchronous A/D input for monitoring DC inputs from temperature probes, pH meters, and other ancillary equipment (ie, QCM), which is sampled simultaneously with the current and potential channels.
Finally, there is the auxiliary interface for control of model 303A SMDE electrodes via 507 interface, and for issuing/receiving TTL signals (triggers).
PowerSuite software is the 'framework' to which different modules and their techniques can be added as needed.
Those currently available are PowerCV (cyclic and linear sweep voltammetry techniques), Powerstep (chronoamperometry and chronopotentiometry), Powercorr (DC corrosion techniques) and Powerpulse (electroanalytical techniques).
The Parstat 2253 can be upgraded to the Parstat 2263 to allow users to add the Powersine (electrochemical impedance spectroscopy techniques) module.
