Unit uses a Geiger-Mueller contamination probe with an integral filter that converts the reading to ambient doserate, shown on another scale of the meter
The PDM110 is a new contamination meter from Southern Scientific that provides accurate and cost-effective measurement of contamination and doserate.
Presentation of the PDM110 is in analogue format, as this is preferred by many working in the nuclear measurement field, but data is acquired using the very latest, sophisticated digital techniques.
The unit uses a Geiger-Mueller contamination probe with an integral filter that converts the reading to ambient doserate, shown on another scale of the meter.
This filter conveniently parks behind the probe when the unit is used for contamination measurement.
The novel hinge and magnetic switch design ensures the filter is tucked neatly away and a sensor automatically changes the ratemeter mode that is verified by small illuminated indicators on the meter scale.
Built in a strong, splash-proof housing measuring 245x120x120mm, the PDM110 is battery-operated and has a four-decade logarithmically-scaled ratemeter covering the range 0.5 to 5000 counts per second and up to 1milliSievert per hour in ambient doserate.
A small built-in loudspeaker provides audio indication of count rate and a rotary switch selects speaker on/off and also activates the alarm mode.
Battery test and unit on/off function is on a separate rotary switch.
Operating temperature range is -10C to +50C.
