Compact, rugged coupler is designed for easy use, while still having all required degrees of freedom to allow maximum coupling efficiency
Toptica says that many customers have approached it looking for fibrecoupled laser systems, due to their convenience of use and flexibility.
There is a rich choice of available couplers from different sources, but such items typically require optimisation and customisation for usage with Toptica's systems.
This resulted in the development of a new fibre coupler, specifically for the company's range of lasers, but also keeping usage for third party lasers in mind.
The FiberDock claims a number of advantages: it is a compact, rugged coupler designed for easy use, while still having all required degrees of freedom to allow maximum coupling efficiency (up to 85% with SM-fibres or PM-SM-fibres and 90% with MM-fibres).
Both PC and APC connectors can be used.
Special attention was paid to achieving independence of the alignment axes, virtually eliminating cross-talk and significantly reducing hysteresis.
Once aligned, all axes can be individually locked, requiring minimal correction of alignment during locking.
Further advantages are the unrivaled long-term stability and the simple and straight-forward handling.
Based on the individual laser parameters, such as wavelength (from 350 to 2000nm) and beam diameter (up to 6mm), a suitable focusing lens can be selected and installed for optimum performance.
The FiberDock can be fixed on various mounting adaptors (supplied by Toptica) or directly to a laser device.
