Tecan has developed a new family of fully automated microplate analysers for EIA processing that specifically comply with the European Community IVD-Directive 98/79/EC, demanding higher standards of reliability and safety.
The Freedom Evolyzer is an open system, available in three different sizes (100, 150 and 200cm) suitable for a range of throughputs and featuring customisable workspaces that can be adapted to the requirements of any commercial assay.
Each system is said to achieve high-speed, accurate and reproducible serial and parallel pipetting using a two-, four- or eight-tip liquid handling arm, while microplates are moved around the workspace by a robotic manipulator arm.
All washing and reading steps are fully automated using a the ColumbusWasher and SunriseReader.
The Freedom Evolyzer combines the benefits of Tecan's automation platforms with extra safety features, including larger safety panels and automatic door locks, positive bar code identification of samples, reagents and plates, and restricted access.
In addition, its state-of-the-art software and touch screen operation make the system very easy to use, says the company.
Every action made by a user and every process on the instrument is continually monitored and controlled, making the Freedom Evolyzer a safe and efficient solution to automate EIA processing.
