Neil Kipling, a pioneer of drug discovery data management software is recognised for his contribution to the industry
IDBS reports that Neil Kipling, founder, CEO and chairman of the company, has been formally recognised for his contribution to the art and science of drug discovery.
The 2005 SBS accomplishment award for innovation in information management for scientific software was awarded to Kipling at the 11th annual SBS conference and exhibition, 11-15 September 2005 in Geneva, Switzerland.
Founded in 1989, the company today is a premier supplier of drug discovery data management software.
Its flagship product, ActivityBase, continues to be the established industry standard, while the company's latest offering, BioBook, promises to be a best of class electronic lab notebook designed specifically for biologists, it says.
IDBS currently serves over 200 discovery organisations worldwide and is committed to customer satisfaction, with over 70% of its staff dedicated to R and D and customer support activities.
Upon accepting the award, Kipling said: "I feel very honoured to have been recognised for the contribution that IDBS has made to the drug discovery industry.
"We (IDBS) have a long heritage in the drug discovery informatics arena, and will continue to innovate.
"It is extremely gratifying that such a prestigious institute as SBS has acknowledged this effort".
Dejan Bojanic, president of SBS said: "The Society for Biomolecular Screening provides a forum for education and information exchange among professionals within drug discovery and related disciplines.
"We believe that individuals making a significant contribution to the furtherance of drug discovery should be acknowledged.
"In this spirit, I am delighted that this years award be given to Neil Kipling".
In addition to the award, Kipling's achievement will also be recognised in the Journal of Biomolecular Screening and with a $1000 honorarium.
Kipling said: "It is my intention to donate the honorarium to the Sunflower Trust - a charitable organisation dedicated to helping children with learning difficulties based in Guildford, where IDBS is headquartered".
