Ametek has appointed Alan Devenish as vice president and general manager of Ametek Materials Analysis Division
Devenish previously served as division vice president of Ametek's Edax business unit since its acquisition in June, 2001.
"I am pleased to announce Alan's promotion to vice president and general manager of our newly formed Materials Analysis Division," commented Frank Hermance, chairman and chief executive officer of Ametek.
"This division, composed of our Edax business unit and the recently acquired Spectro Analytical Instruments business, is a global leader in analytical instrumentation for analysis of materials".
"Alan's extensive experience in the materials analysis field combined with his global business background makes him the ideal person to lead this new division." Devenish has held a variety of sales, marketing, and general management positions since joining Edax twenty three years ago.
He joined Edax International in 1983 as sales manager when the business was part of Philips Electronics.
In 1990 Devenish was named sales and marketing manager of Edax and in 1996 was named general manager.
Upon Edax being sold to a private equity group in 1998, Devenish was named president and CEO of Edax, a position he held until Edax was acquired by Ametek in 2001.
Hed holds a bachelor of science degree in physics from the University of Sussex, England.
