Available from Radleys Discovery Technologies (RDT) are novel magnetic stirrer bar designs that provide optimal stirring performance for a range of synthesis vessel shapes and different sample types.
Through extensive testing, RDT has developed for each of its parallel synthesisers a magnetic stirring bar that provides optimal performance.
This testing included the analysis of important criteria such as depth of vortex, speed at which the stirrer bar decoupled and sample viscosity.
As a result RDT is able to recommend specific bars for each of its parallel synthesis systems.
For instance, a rare earth cross shape stirrer bar is recommended for use with Carousel reaction tubes because it provides a powerful stirring action even with higher viscosity samples, while an elliptical bar is recommended for use with round bottomed flasks because it offers best stability at higher speeds.
Many RDT stirring bars contain rare earth magnets that offer a number of advantages over conventional magnets, including better magnetic strength in the presence of other magnets, stronger magnetic coupling, and prolonged operational life.
It should however be noted that all magnetic stirring bars lose their magnetism over time and use, and should be periodically replaced to maintain performance.
