Coherent has introduced the Cube family of lasers, which are compact, fully featured diode laser systems combining high performance and simple operation/integration, including USB control
Both the laser head and electronics are integrated within a single compact package (40x40x110mm), which has the same form factor as the Coherent Compass head.
Intended for both OEM and stand-alone operation, these lasers are available at five different wavelengths from the ultraviolet through the near infrared: 375nm, 405nm, 440nm, 635nm, and 785nm.
Depending on wavelength, output powers are as high as 50milliwatts.
Cube lasers can be operated from CW up to a pulse repetition rate of 150MHz, with a combination of analogue, digital and computer control.
The Cube laser's function and status can be controlled by any of three separate connections, which support analogue, digital RS-232 and plug-and-play USB control.
The connectivity software uses a standard Windows platform and a virtual control panel for display and control of all laser parameters, including power, status, mode, temperature, etc.
Up to 127 separate lasers can be operated from a single computer in this way.
Featuring rugged yet elegant optical, mechanical and electrical designs, Cube lasers deliver long-lived operation, low optical noise and excellent beam-pointing stability.
All models include, as standard, a CDRH-compliant interlocked control box, cables, software and power supply.
Cube lasers are ideal for commercial, industrial and research use in a wide range of applications, including bio-instrumentation, reprographics, life sciences, and metrology.
In life sciences, their high power enables faster image acquisition in confocal microscopy, and higher sensitivity for flow cytometry.
These lasers also provide new wavelengths for genomic and proteomic applications.
