Coherent unveils new low-power CO2 lasers that feature excellent beam quality and a very small footprint
Called the Diamond C-55 and Diamond C-70, these OEM lasers provide more than 55W and 70W of output power, respectively, at 10.55 to 10.63um.
Their M2<1.2 (<1.3 for C-70) beam quality makes them ideal for medium- to high-volume marking, engraving and desktop manufacturing.
The C-55 was built using the same laser cavity as its predecessor, the Gem-50.
However, it features an innovative platform where the power supply RF driver is integrated into the same housing as the laser head.
This results in a compact, robust package that can withstand the most demanding environments.
The C-55 provides 10% higher power than its predecessor and comes in a single, compact package, providing ease of integration and enabling previously unattainable desktop-sized, high throughput marking and engraving systems.
These innovative lasers use the same technical approach of integrating the RF module with the proven, high-performance laser cavity as the widely successful Gem-30.
"The advantages of the C-55 are numerous.
"You get the agility and ease of integration that comes with a compact integrated platform, as well as the reliability and dependability that comes with using a field-proven technology," said Ron Straayer, product line manager at Coherent.
"Plus, you get a laser with higher power levels at a lower price point".
Available in both air- and liquid-cooled models, the C-55 measures just 537.1mm by 92.5mm by 154mm for the air-cooled version and 537.1mm by 92.5mm by 103mm for the liquid-cooled version.
The C-55 has a superior rise time of less than 60usec.
It runs on 48VDC (25amps) and has an RJ-45 ethernet connector.
Also available is the 70W version of the same platform.
The C-70 uses an asymmetrical optical cavity to obtain 70W of power from the same compact and integrated package.
The C-70 is available in both elliptical (uncorrected) and circular (corrected) versions.
