Designed for ultrafast photochemistry, ultrafast spectroscopy and OPA pumping, Legend amplifiers offer high performance coupled with flexibility in wavelength, pulse width, energy and repetition rate
The Legend series consists of the Legend-USP (30 to 50 femtosecond pulses), Legend-F (<130 femtoseconds), Legend-P (<2 picoseconds) and Legend-Dual (both picosescond and femtosecond configurations).
Each features 1kHz and 5kHz repetition rates and is offered in both a standard and high-energy model.
Legend amplifiers are wavelength tunable from 750 to 900nm, and for broader tunability their output can pump multiple optical parametric amplifiers (OPAs).
Optional second- and third-harmonic generators provide even higher power and tunability from deep-UV to the visible.
"The Legend series is unique in terms of its breadth, with models offering a variety of pulse widths, energy levels, and repetition rates," said Marco Arrigoni, marketing director for Coherent.
"This versatile family uses regenerative amplification, the simplest and most flexible way to amplify femtosecond pulses.
"And all Legends are designed to be pumped with Evolution, the most reliable diode-pumped laser for Ti:Sapphire amplifier systems.
"Evolution's lifetime, power and low-noise translate into unparalleled reliability and stability, both short- and long-term." Legend amplifiers are designed to integrate seamlessly into the Coherent family of ultrafast lasers.
Specifically, users will be able to choose from the Mira, Vitesse and Chameleon as oscillators.
This wide selection of long-lifetime, field-proven products provides customers with the most options for hands-off operation and exceptional performance available from one company.
"The Legend series draws its performance and reliability from Positive Light's 12 years of experience in designing ultrafast amplifiers," said Arrigoni.
"This is inclusive of the Legend's most critical elements: high-speed electronics, a robust mechanical design, and expert optical design of the stretcher/compressor and the regenerative amplification cavity.
"We are building the most widely accepted and reliable amplifiers, available now in a broader range of models, and with easy upgrade paths within each member of the family." Founded in 1991, Positive Light designs and manufactures advanced solid-state lasers for science and industry.
Technical innovation and the market acceptance of lasers such as the Evolution, Spitfire, and Hurricane have established Positive Light as the leader in pulsed diode-pumped and ultrafast lasers.
In April 2003, Coherent acquired Positive Light to enhance its market leadership in lasers for scientific and commercial applications.
