Invetech's vice president of business development, Robert Speziale, appointed chair of the SBS (Society for Biomolecular Sciences) partners in commerce committee
As committee chair, Speziale is entrusted to ensure a balance between the interests of commercial vendors and the research and development community, and to uphold the mission of the society, which is to advance the science and technology of biomolecular sciences.
In a unanimous decision by the SBS board, Speziale was chosen to oversee the committee as a result of his industry experience.
A member of the committee since 2001, Speziale has also served on the exhibits committee of the American Society for Blood Banks, the American Society for Microbiology and the board of directors of the Biomedical Marketing Association.
Speziale takes up the role immediately where his first tasks will be to add five new members to the committee, to improve co-ordination between the nine SBS committees and to help create a new web-based education programme.
Commenting on Speziale's appointment to the partners in commerce committee, Jari Palander, vice president of North American operations at Invetech, said: "We are delighted that Robert has been selected to preside over such an influential and esteemed committee, this is a clear reflection of the caliber and aptitude of Invetech executives.
"He will be a great asset to the committee and I look forward to seeing him driving the team forward".
Speziale said: "I am extremely honoured to have been asked by the board to take on the role of chair, and aim to use my industry experience to benefit the committee.
"My main objective will be to establish a lasting relationship between drug discovery and life science vendors and the SBS members and staff".
Speziale has overseen in-vitro diagnostic instrument and life sciences instrument business development at Invetech, which has locations in Australia and USA, for 18 months.
Prior to this he held a variety of management positions within healthcare, in-vitro diagnostics and life sciences organisations and at a world recognized blood centre, giving him over 30 years experience in the industry.
