Pre-diluted and sterilised, FoamAway Irradiated can be quickly added to a foaming culture without spending time and effort preparing the reagent before adding to the bioreactor
Invitrogen has introduced Gibco FoamAway Irradiated, a sterile, ready-to-use anti-foaming reagent.
FoamAway Irradiated eliminates proteinaceous foam in mammalian and microbial cell culture.
It can be used to prevent foam before it forms and eliminate existing foam.
"In aerobic cell culture processes, the formation of proteinaceous foam is common, so anti-foaming agents are widely used," said Jeff Greenberg, vice president for the bioproduction segment.
"Traditional reagents require costly and labour-intensive pre-processing before use in cell culture.
"FoamAway Irradiated is an innovative solution because it is gamma radiation sterilised and validated to a sterility assurance level of 10^-6and is ready to use".
For added convenience, FoamAway Irradiated is pre-diluted to 3% concentration in injection-grade purified water, as well as packaged in versatile media bags that can connect sterilely to most common bioreactors.
FoamAway Irradiated is available in a 500ml bag for small-scale use and evaluation of performance without major expense and also in a 2.5l bag as an affordable method of bulk purchase for larger-scale usage.
