Microscience, said to be Europe's largest microscopy and imaging event, is on track to being biggest ever in 2008 and expands to four days
Microscience 2008, Europe's premier international conference and exhibition on the science of microscopy, imaging and analysis in both the life and physical sciences, will be held at Excel in London.
Organised by the Royal Microscopical Society (RMS), this major biennial event further reflects its previous years' successes by expanding to four days in 2008, from 23-26 June.
Already anticipation is mounting for Microscience 2008, as evidenced by the large amount of exhibition space that was snapped up within days of it becoming available - over 85% is now taken.
"What is really pleasing," says Allison Winton, RMS exhibitions manager, "is that a third of companies have opted to take more space in 2008, with an average increase of 11%".
In addition to more space being booked, "A number of first-time exhibitors in 2006 rebooked immediately and we already have seven companies coming to their first Microscience," adds Allison.
With major companies, such as Hitachi, Jeol, FEI, Leica, Olympus and Zeiss, exhibiting alongside many other microscopy and imaging related companies in 1100m2 of stand space, Microscience 2008 incorporates a significant exhibition.
"As Europe's largest exhibition dedicated to microscopy and imaging, we see Microscience as the motor show of microscopy" says Rob Flavin, RMS executive director.
"The event provides a unique way for visitors to get close to the cutting edge of microscopy and imaging and meet with the world's leading experts".
Mike Dixon, business development manager for Hitachi-High Technologies, is in agreement: "We are proud to be a key contributor to Microscience.
"It's a truly inclusive event, with active contributions from high school level, or those at the start of their careers, right through to world respected academics and company managers.
"All trade members have the opportunity to be an integral part of the conference, contributing to teaching and outreach programmes, conference sessions, practical training and demonstrations - so from our perspective, it achieves much more than a conventional 'conference with exhibition' format".
Leanne Annereau, marketing manager for Olympus UK, adds: "As Microscience is a key event in the microscope calendar, it's an excellent opportunity for us to network in the microscope community across all areas.
"Consequently, as a big company we want a big presence, so we have booked more space for 2008.
"As space is at a premium, we've also booked up early to ensure a good location".
The RMS has also listened to exhibitor and delegate feedback from previous years via its trade advisory committee.
Consequently, this year all exhibitors and attendees will have free Wi-Fi access and on-site IT support.
There will also be a variety of food and drink outlets within the main hall, as well as a great social programme, including an evening cruise on the Thames.
